Event Description
In celebration of Jacobs Campbell Dance's
fifth anniversary and in association with the Dance Series at
the 14th Street Y, choreographers Whitney Jacobs and Christopher Campbell
debut two exciting new works.
Jacobs explores the hilarity of miscommunication and conflicting relationships through a comedic lens and playful sensibility clashed against the raw physicality of the body. The work includes an original score titled Dancing Sounds from accomplished pianist and composer Ionel Petroi. Petroi performs live on stage with the dancers, weaving pre-recorded electronic tracks with piano accompaniment.
Campbell investigates themes from the Frankenstein narrative in the premier of Incubator. The work captures Campbell’s unique movement signature including traditional ballet aesthetics permeated with fierce athleticism.
